Who can do what
Stock Sync has two roles, Viewer and Operator. An operator can do everything a viewer can, and more. How you get a role is explained in Signing in and roles; Settings → People and roles shows yours.
Two rules hold everywhere:
- Everyone with a role sees everything. Every screen, every figure, every offer's history and every message exchanged with the marketplace is visible to viewers too.
- Only operators change things. A button that changes something is absent for a viewer, and so are the tick boxes that select rows for bulk actions. Even if a change were sent on a viewer's behalf, the server refuses it and answers "This needs the operator role". (An operator sometimes sees a button greyed out: that is not about the role, and its tooltip says why, for example "No offer has failed.")

What an operator's actions leave behind
Every action an operator takes, whether it worked or not, is recorded permanently with the operator's company e-mail address. It shows in the account's Activity tab and in the Live feed. An action that did not go through reads as an attempt, for example "tried to resume the account — unavailable: …". Viewers can read this record too. Actions that concern no single account, such as Read PIM now, are recorded but shown on no account. See Every status explained.
If you see "You can't …"
A red box under the action buttons saying "This needs the operator role" means you are not (or no longer) an operator. A box saying "… from here" means the change did not come from Stock Sync's own address. Both are explained in Signing in and roles.
