Enter or change credentials

You give an account a new API password or user, or move it to a new API address, without losing anything that is waiting to be sent. An ABOUT YOU account has no user and password: it has an API key, which is treated differently. See ABOUT YOU: the API key.

Before you begin

Who can do this: an Operator. Viewers can read the account's Settings → Connection but cannot change it.

Time needed: 2 minutes for a new password; about 10 minutes for a new address, because the account's offers have to be checked again (and a Live account paused first).

Before you start: have the new user, password or address from whoever manages the seller account on the marketplace. To change the API address of a Live account, pause it or switch it to Preview first.

What you can change

FieldWhen you can change itWhat happens
API userAny timeUsed from the next call to the marketplace
API passwordAny timeThe same. Leave it empty to keep the stored one
Warehouse id, Requests per secondAny timeThe same. They cannot be left empty: an emptied one says Required and nothing is saved
API addressOnly while the account is Paused or in PreviewThe password must be typed again, a Live account switches to Preview, and an offer import is requested for the new address

ABOUT YOU: the API key

An ABOUT YOU account is reached with one credential, an API key.

  • Where it comes from. Only an Admin of the ABOUT YOU Seller Center can make one: Settings → API Keys → Add. The key can have an expiry date, and ABOUT YOU shows it once. Copy it straight away; if it is lost, make a new one.
  • Real shop or sandbox. ABOUT YOU's real shop and its sandbox (made in Settings → Sandbox) share one address. The key decides which one Stock Sync writes to, and which merchant. A sandbox has its own key and its own data. On the test environment use a sandbox key only.
  • The key is binding. Because the key chooses where the stock goes, it is locked like the API address: it can be changed only while the account is Paused or in Preview. Changing it on a Live account would send stock to another shop without the Preview check, so Settings → Connection greys the API key and the API address out, with the reason "Pause the account or switch it to Preview to change the API address and API key". Typing a new key on a paused Live account shows "Saving a new API key switches the account to Preview; go Live again after checking its offers."
  • Kept when left empty. The key is stored encrypted and never shown again. When you open Settings → Connection the API key is empty, with "Stored, updated …" under it. Leave it empty to keep the stored key. Changing Requests per second needs no new key.

To replace the key: pause the account or switch it to Preview, open the account's Settings → Connection, paste the new key into API key, and click Save. The account is then in Preview with a new offer import requested; go Live again after checking its offers.

Steps

  1. Open the account from the sidebar, then its Settings tab. The Connection section is first. (Edit connection in the More menu, in a suspended account's banner, on the Summary's Connection card, or in the row's ⋯ menu on the Accounts page, all open the same place.)

  2. The Connection section says "How Stock Sync reaches the marketplace for this account."

The Settings tab of Fashion Days RO, a Sending account, at Connection: the API address is greyed out with "Pause the account or switch it to Preview to change the API address", the API user stock-sync.ro@fashiondays.test, the API password empty with "Stored, updated 12/09/2026, 08:42. Leave empty to keep it.", Warehouse id 1, Requests per second 2

On a Live, active account the API address is greyed out. Everything else can be edited.

  3. To change the user, type over API user.

  4. To change the password, type the new one in API password. The field is always empty when the tab opens; the line under it says when the stored password was last changed. Leave it empty to keep the stored password.

A close-up of the API password field: empty, with "Stored, updated 12/09/2026, 08:42. Leave empty to keep it." under it

  5. To change the address (on a paused account or one in Preview), type the new one over API address. On an account that was Live, a note appears under it: "Saving a new address switches the account to Preview; go Live again after checking its offers."

Fashion Days RO paused and given a new API address (the Bulgarian one): the note under the address reads "Saving a new address switches the account to Preview; go Live again after checking its offers.", the API password field is empty, and the bar at the bottom reads Unsaved changes · Connection with Discard and Save

A stored password is never sent to a new address, so type the API password again.

  6. As soon as you change a field, a bar appears at the bottom: Unsaved changes · Connection. Click Save (or press Alt + S). Discard (Alt + J) puts every field back. Leaving the tab with unsaved changes asks first.

What you should see

The message "Connection of Fashion Days RO saved."

  • The message "Connection of Fashion Days RO saved." The new values are used from the next call to the marketplace, and the Unsaved changes bar goes away.
  • If you typed a new password, Credentials on the Summary's Connection card reads "Set, updated" with the new date. If you left it empty, the date does not change.
  • The account's Activity tab records the change with your e-mail address as changed the connection. It never shows the password.

After a new address, also:

  • The account is in Preview, even if it was Live. It stays in Preview until an operator goes Live again.
  • An Offer import is requested for the new address. It runs as soon as the account is active and healthy: straight away on an active account, or when you resume a paused one. Watch it in the account's Activity tab.

A new password does not un-suspend an account

Saving the connection of a Suspended account does not bring it back. Click Recover in its status banner afterwards. See Bring back a suspended account.

Before the account exists: Test connection

In New account, the Connection step has a Test connection button: it asks the marketplace whether it accepts the credentials you typed, without saving anything. Use it to catch a wrong password before the account is created. The answer appears beside the button, in green when accepted and in red with the marketplace's reason when refused, and the Review step repeats it as Connection test: Accepted or Refused.

If something goes wrong

Save pressed with a new address and an empty password: the API password field says "Enter the API password again for the new address"

Example

A new password. The marketplace team changes the API password of Fashion Days RO on Tuesday and sends it to Radu. He opens Fashion Days RO, its Settings tab, types the new password in API password, leaves everything else and clicks Save. The message says "Connection of Fashion Days RO saved." and Credentials now reads "Set, updated" with Tuesday's date. The account never stopped sending.

A new address. Fashion Days RO is to move to another API address. Radu:

  1. Clicks Pause on the account and confirms.
  2. Opens Settings → Connection, types the new address over the old one, types the password again, and clicks Save.
  3. The account is now paused and in Preview; its status reads Paused. He clicks Resume in the banner: the offers are imported from the new address.
  4. He checks the offers on the account's Summary and Offers tabs (how many are Not linked, what Going Live would send), and then goes Live again.
