A tour of the screen

Every page of Stock Sync sits in the same frame: a sidebar on the left, a top bar above the page, and the page itself. Learn the frame once and you can find your way around every screen. This tour walks through it piece by piece.

The frame at a glance

The Overview with its frame: the sidebar on the left with Search or jump to, the main menu with its numbers (Overview 3, Offers 118, Orders 3, Activity 3, then Accounts and Settings) and the seven accounts grouped by marketplace (eMAG 3, Fashion Days 3, ABOUT YOU 1), where eMAG BG carries PREVIEW, Fashion Days BG SUSPENDED and Fashion Days RO Wh 2 PAUSED; the top bar with the breadcrumb Overview, the green Live pill and the Keyboard shortcuts button; Radu Ionescu, Operator, and the theme button at the bottom left

From top to bottom on the left:

  • Stock Sync and the Fold the sidebar button.
  • Search or jump to… — opens the search box that finds any page, account, offer, order or action (Ctrl K). See Search or jump to.
  • The main menu — Overview, Offers, Orders, Accounts, Activity and Settings, each with a count when something needs you.
  • Accounts — every marketplace account, grouped by marketplace, with a + to add one.
  • At the bottom, who is signed in (click it for the account menu) and the theme button.

Along the top of the page:

  • The breadcrumb — where you are, for example Accounts › eMAG RO › Offers.
  • The Live pill — whether changes reach the page as they happen. See The Live pill.
  • Keyboard shortcuts — the keyboard button opens the list of shortcuts (? does the same).

The sidebar is always there, whatever page you are on. The page you are on is highlighted, so you always know where you are.

The main menu

The menu is organised by task, not by record: offers and orders of every account are one click away, and the account is just a filter.

ItemWhat it opensThe number beside it
OverviewWhat needs you, and how every account is doing. See Overview.Red: the urgent problems in Needs your attention.
OffersEvery offer of every account. See Offers.Red: offers that need a fix (failed, rejected or orphaned).
OrdersMarketplace orders on their way to Odoo. See Orders.Amber: orders that need attention.
AccountsEvery marketplace account; create a new one here. See Accounts.—
ActivityLive events, sync runs and the outbox. See Activity.Red: set-aside outbox messages.
SettingsThe Odoo connection and your preferences. See Settings.—

A number only shows when it is above zero. Hover over any item for what it opens and what its number counts.

The accounts list

Under the menu, the accounts scroll on their own, so the menu always stays in view. They are grouped by marketplace: eMAG, Fashion Days and ABOUT YOU.

PartWhat it means
The group heading (for example eMAG 3)The marketplace and how many accounts it has. Click it to fold or unfold the group; your browser remembers which groups you folded. A folded group shows a coloured dot when one of its accounts is not sending normally: red when one is suspended, amber otherwise. Hover over the heading to read which ones.
The badgeA coloured box with the account's initials, for example ER for eMAG RO and FR (teal) for Fashion Days RO. It tells similar names apart at a glance and appears everywhere the account does: lists, filters, feeds, headers. See Account badge.
The nameClick it to open the account workspace.
PREVIEW, PAUSED, SUSPENDEDA tag appears only when the account is not sending normally. An account that is sending has no tag. Hover over the account for what its status means. See Account status.
+ (beside Accounts)Opens New account. Operators only. See New account.

With more than six accounts a Filter accounts… box appears above the groups. Type part of a name or a marketplace to narrow the list; Esc or the × clears it. While you filter, every group opens and its count reads, for example, 2/3.

Read the tags first

An account with a red SUSPENDED tag is the quickest warning you can get: you see it from any page. Click the account to read why, and recover it.

Folding the sidebar

When you need more room, for example for the wide offer table, fold the sidebar to a strip. Click Fold the sidebar at the top of the sidebar, or press Ctrl + B (⌘ + B on a Mac). Click the same button (now Unfold the sidebar) or press the shortcut again to open it.

The Overview with the sidebar folded to a narrow strip: the Unfold the sidebar button, the search icon, the six menu icons with small dots on Overview, Offers and Activity (red) and Orders (amber), then the seven account badges in three groups; corner dots only on EB (amber, in Preview), FB (red, suspended) and FR2 (amber, paused)

Folded, only the icons stay: the search icon, the six menu icons (a small coloured dot replaces the number), and one badge per account, grouped by marketplace with a thin line between the groups. A badge carries a corner dot only when the account is not sending normally. Hover over any icon or badge to see its name and status; click it to open it.

The sidebar stays folded while you move from page to page. On a phone there is no fold button: the sidebar opens with the menu button at the top of the page instead (see On a phone).

The top bar

The strip above each page has three parts:

  • The breadcrumb on the left says where you are, for example Accounts › eMAG RO › Offers. Every part except the last is a link.
  • The Live pill (see below).
  • Keyboard shortcuts — opens the list of shortcuts.

Under it, each page starts with its title, one line saying what the page is for, and the page's own buttons on the right: for example Legend, Export or Read PIM now. Buttons that change something only show for operators; a viewer sees the same page with fewer buttons.

The Live pill

Stock Sync pushes every change to the page as it happens: a stock number sent, an order arriving, an account paused by a colleague. You never need to reload. The pill at the top right says whether that is working.

The Live pill opened: Connected — live updates with its switch on, a sentence about pausing, then the six last events, such as An offer: published · Fashion Days RO, 12 seconds ago, and Account paused · Fashion Days RO Wh 2, and at the bottom Open the activity feed

The pill saysWhat it means
Live (green)Changes arrive as they happen. The dot pulses when an event arrives.
Connecting… (amber)Stock Sync is connecting. The page shows what was loaded; live updates start by themselves once connected.
Paused (amber)You paused live updates: the screen is frozen so you can work. Nothing is lost.
Not live (grey)Live updates are not connected. The page fetches fresh figures every 15 seconds instead.

Click the pill to open it. It shows the Live updates switch, the last few events (what happened, to which account, how long ago) and Open the activity feed.

Pausing. Turn the switch off to freeze every screen, for example while you compare two numbers or select rows. Turn it back on to catch up: everything that arrived meanwhile is applied at once. Settings → Your preferences → Live updates and Pause live updates in the search box do the same.

When rows change. In a list, a row that changes flashes briefly and stays where it is. Rows that newly match your filters do not jump in under your cursor: they wait behind a Show n new button above the list. Click it to add them.

When the connection drops. If the live connection is lost after it worked, an amber line appears under the top bar: "Connection lost at … You are looking at what was loaded; live updates resume by themselves and catch up on what was missed." Nothing needs doing; it disappears once the connection is back. Meanwhile the page refreshes every 15 seconds.

Even while live, every screen also refreshes once a minute as a safety net.

Search or jump to

Click Search or jump to… at the top of the sidebar, or press Ctrl K (⌘ K on a Mac), from any page.

The Search or jump to box with nothing typed yet: the search field, the group Go to (Overview, Offers, Orders, Accounts, Activity, Sync runs, Outbox, Settings), then the start of the Accounts group with Fashion Days RO · Fashion Days Romania · Sending; the bottom line explains the arrow keys, Enter and Esc

Type a few letters and choose a line with the arrow keys and Enter, or click it:

GroupWhat it finds
Go toEvery page: Overview, Offers, Orders, Accounts, Activity, Sync runs, Outbox, Settings.
AccountsEvery account, with its badge, its marketplace and its status, for example Fashion Days Romania · Sending under Fashion Days RO.
OffersOffers by offer id, SKU, barcode (EAN) or product name, once you have typed two characters.
OrdersOrders by reference.
ActionsNew account and Read PIM now (operators only), Pause live updates or Resume live updates, Switch to light theme or Switch to dark theme, and Keyboard shortcuts. A highlighted action shows what it does on the right.

Esc closes the box without doing anything.

Legends and tooltips

Every part of the screen explains itself where it is shown:

  • Every button says what it does. Hover over any button for what it does and what follows, for example Resync — "Send this offer's stock to the marketplace again, even if the number did not change…". A button you cannot use right now stays visible, greyed out, and its tooltip says why (for example "No offer has failed.").
  • Every status explains itself. Hover over any coloured status, for example Rejected or Paused, for what it means and what to do. The words are the same as in Every status explained.
  • Every column header has an ⓘ that says what the column shows.
  • Every list has a Legend. The Legend button at the top of a list opens what every colour and status on that page means, and what to do about each. On Offers it goes on, below the part in the picture, with the marketplace states and examples of the Stock column.

The Legend of the Offers page: the four colours with their meanings, then the Status group, each offer status (In sync, Waiting to send, Sent awaiting confirmation, Rejected, Failed, Not linked, Orphaned) with what it means and what to do

The colours mean the same everywhere: green all is well, amber waiting or worth watching, red stuck or refused and needing a person, blue in progress or for information, grey neutral information.

The account menu

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar to open the account menu.

The account menu opened above the name Radu Ionescu: his e-mail address, an Operator badge, the line Updates live, and Sign out

  • Operator — your role. An Operator can change things: add accounts, pause, go Live, resend stock. A Viewer can look at everything but change nothing; a viewer's menu says Read-only before the line under it.
  • Updates live — how the screens keep up right now: Updates live while changes are pushed to you, Live updates paused while you paused them, and Refreshes every 15 seconds while not live when the live connection is not there.
  • Sign out — signs you out of Stock Sync and of the Microsoft sign-in in this browser.

The account menu of Ana Popescu: a Viewer badge and the line Read-only · updates live

Your role comes from your company account. If you need a different one, see Signing in and roles and Who can do what. Settings → People and roles shows it too.

Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? on any page, or click the keyboard button in the top bar, to see the list of keyboard shortcuts.

The Keyboard shortcuts dialog: Search or jump to anything Ctrl or ⌘ K, Focus search /, G then H, O, R, A or V to go to a page, J and K for the next and previous row, Enter to open, X to select, Shift-click for a range, Esc, Ctrl or ⌘ B, Alt S, Alt J and ?

The most useful ones: Ctrl K to search or jump anywhere, G then a letter to go to a page (G O Offers, G R Orders, G A Accounts, G V Activity, G H the Overview), J and K to move through the rows of a list, X to select a row, and Esc to close a panel or clear a selection. Keyboard shortcuts explains where each one works.

Themes

Stock Sync opens in the dark theme. To switch to the light theme, use any of:

  • the sun button at the bottom of the sidebar (in the light theme it shows a moon, which switches back);
  • Settings → Your preferences → Theme;
  • Switch to light theme in the search box (Ctrl K).

Your browser remembers the choice, so it stays the next time you open Stock Sync on the same computer.

The Overview in the light theme: a dark aubergine sidebar, a light grey page and white cards with clear borders, the same tiles, lists and chart

The light theme has three clear layers: a dark aubergine sidebar, a light grey page, and white cards with visible borders, so tables and panels stand out in a bright room or on paper. Everything works the same in both themes, and the colours keep their meaning.

On a phone

Stock Sync also works on a phone or a narrow window. The sidebar folds away behind a button and the figures stack one under the other.

The Overview on a phone: a menu button at the top, then the page title and buttons, then the headline tiles stacked in a single column

The Open navigation button at the top left opens the sidebar with the menu and the accounts. Wide tables scroll sideways: swipe left to see more columns. On narrower windows some columns hide by themselves; what they show stays in the row's tooltips and side panel.

Good to know

  • If a refresh fails, the page keeps the last figures and says "Could not refresh. Showing the last loaded data."
  • Every page has its own address, filters and open panel included. Copy it from the browser's address bar to send a colleague to exactly what you see.
  • After eight hours the sign-in times out and Stock Sync asks you to sign in again. You come back to the same page. See Signing in and roles.
